Using Facebook for business has always been a challenge in the B2B space. Not necessarily because its difficult, but because people just don't get how to use Facebook for a B2B business. There is no doubt B2C has always been a more natural fit. However, its all about to change - enter 'LinkedIn' for Facebook.
Actually it's not LinkedIn at all, it's a LinkedIn competitor called BranchOut. Effectively it provides LinkedIn-style functionality on the Facebook platform, and it's growing at a phenomenal rate.
The hidden business community on Facebook
There has always been a myth that Facebook is not for business. Facebook is very close now to reaching saturation point for every working adult in the UK, and of course many of these people are business owners, or make buying decisions for businesses. The people have always been there, but they have not necessarily been wearing their business hat. But that's okay, people are still people even when they are at work. The key to reaching them is to connect socially and get to know them. Eventually, they will check you out professionally too. It is harder, but it works.
BranchOut on Facebook
BranchOut is a Facebook app which adds some key LinkedIn style functionality to Facebook. BrankchOut's tag-line is 'Career Networking on Facebook', and that's pretty much what you get. It's the essential items of LinkedIn. It allows you to connect to other Facebookers in a business mindset, it shows degrees of separation, it allows endorsements.
In short it allows you to be a professional on Facebook. I recommend you check it out. Feel free to connect to me!
